What Is The Hebrew Word For Worship – No doubt you have heard the word worship many times, but do you know what it really means? Have you ever wondered what God considers true worship? Is there any information hidden in the Hebrew letters that helps us understand more about worship? Any sign of Christ? If you have spent any time studying the Hebrew letters, you probably think so. You will be pleasantly surprised.

In the ancient prophetic text, the book of Joshua records the history of God’s people who entered and conquered the land promised to them by their father Abraham. After the miracle that crossed the Jordan River in flood stage on dry land and before attacking the fortified city of Jericho, Joshua had an unusual meeting with a very unusual warrior.

And it happened that when Joshua was in Jericho, he raised his eyes, and first he saw a man standing before him, a man with a sword in his hand. And Joshua came to him and said to him. , are you for us or for our opponents?

Joshua bravely approached the warrior to discern his intentions wisely. After all, Joshua was an invader in a foreign land full of soldiers determined to fight to stay where they were. But Joshua did not wait for the answer given to him in verses 14 and 15:

He said: No! But now I have come as the captain of God’s army. And Joshua fell on his face to the ground, bowed down and said to him: “What did my master say to his servant? Because the place where you stay is holy. And so Joshua did.

The first clue comes from our last old textbook. In the revelation of Jesus to his beloved disciple John in chapter 19, verses 9 and 10, we read another encounter with someone unusual:

And he said to me: Write: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding, which is higher than the lamb. And he said to me: These are the true words of God. And I fell at his feet to bow before him. And he said to me: Look, if you do not do this, I am the servant of your friends and of your brothers who have the testimony of Jesus. Serve God, because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Worship God At All Times. If Necessary, Use Music.

He can only be an angel because he refused to be worshiped and insisted that John worship only God. So Joshua did not meet an angel, but someone worthy of worship. But why was the place where he was holy?

Because the leader of God’s army was none other than God himself. And why did Joshua fall on his face?

The Hebrew word for worship, shacha, means to bow down, bow down or come down. It is a scene of humility before God. The Hebrew letters in the name tell us even more.

Gloss is a picture of teeth and can mean consuming, destroying or pressing down. There is one letter that God uses to identify himself.

Hey, it’s a picture of arms outstretched, which means you see, look, or pay attention to what’s going on.

The first secret we discover in the letters is that in worship we remain pressed when we see God drawing us into that inner sanctuary where he identifies himself with us. When we humble ourselves before Him, He brings us safely closer and builds a relationship with Him.

But there is much more to this mystery that can easily be overlooked. The letter hey also means to pay attention to what comes next. What can we find in the ancient scriptures that comes from worship rather than relationship?

The first place where this word is found in our old text is in the first book of the Torah in Genesis 18. In the first verse God appears to Abraham with two angels. In verse 2 we find the Abraham’s answer:

What Is The Haftarah, And Why Do We Read It?

And he lifted up his eyes, and looked, the first three men were standing by him, and when he saw them, he ran to them through the entrance of the tent, and fell to the ground.

The word bow is the Hebrew word for worship, shacha. Abraham worshiped God and continued to serve him with the best he had to offer. What was the result of this meeting? Until now, Abraham’s wife Sara was barren, but God says in verse 10:

He said: I will return to you according to the time of life; And look, your wife Sara will have a son.

Abraham was 100 years old and Sarah was 90 years old when their son Isaac was born. This great blessing was a miracle that God spoke immediately after Abraham’s act of worship.

Another example of a blessing after worship can be found in Exodus 23, where God reminds his people that worship is his alone. In verse 24 he warns them:

Do not bow before their gods, nor serve them, nor do according to their works, but destroy them and destroy their images.

Again a bow is the word shacha or worship. The next two verses provide a contrast and point only to the blessing of God’s work:

You will serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water, and I will take away your sickness. Nothing in your land casts its young or is barren; I will fulfill the number of your days.

Worship Comes From The Hebrew Word

It’s the other way around too. In the book of Zechariah, we see a time in the future when the lack of worship will be very costly. In chapter 14, verse 17, the prophet Zechariah tells us:

And it will be that none of all the families of the earth will come to Jerusalem to bow before the king, God of hosts, nor will there be rain on them.

The Shacha letters are also numbers. Shin is the number 300 and represents the final blood sacrifice made by the perfect Lamb of God. Chet is the number 8, which represents new beginnings. Hay is number 5 and represents grace. So the last secret in the Shekhah shows that with the last sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ, of His grace, we were given a new beginning.

That is why God also raised him a lot and gave him a name that is above all names. Let every knee bow to the name of Jesus – in heaven and on earth and under the earth; And every tongue must confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord, for the glory of God the Father.
