It became the third best-selling book of all time with 150 million copies sold. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson. It is the first part of the “Lord of the Rings” film trilogy, based on the bestselling book by J.R.R. Tolkien. Filming first began in 1997 by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson, and finished at the same time as the film, on location in New Zealand. The film had a budget of 180 million dollars, took 14 months to shoot, and had a lengthy post-production. Sauron, the Lord of Darkness, has risen and threatens to conquer Middle-earth. To stop this ancient evil once and for all, Frodo Baggins must destroy the One Ring in the flames of Mount Doom. Men, hobbits, wizards, elves and dwarves form friendships to aid him in his quest.
He travels from his home in the Shire with fellow hobbits Sam, Merry, and Pippin. They travel to the town of Bree, where the group encounters a mysterious figure known only as Strider. While being pursued by the Black Riders, they must make their way to Rivendell. When they arrived, a council was convened, which decided that the only thing left to do was to take the ring to Mordor and destroy it. Frodo is joined by his friends Sam, Merry, Pippin, Aragorn and Gandalf; and Gimli, Legolas, and Boromir have arrived again. They attempt to cross the Misty Mountains through the Pass of Caradhras, but Saruman’s magic forces them to turn around and descend, through Mori’s mines. Here the Fellowship meets the Balrog. Gandalf tested the Balrog, and fell from the Khazad-dûm bridge into a pit, to his death. The Guild (with the exception of Gandalf) travel to the land of the elves in Lothlorien, and travel down the Great River by boat, where the group splits up when attacked by Uruk-hai. Boromir is killed, and Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas split up to follow the Uruk-hai who have captured Merry and Pippin. Frodo and Sam traveled east along the road to Mordor.
After his 111th birthday party, Bilbo Baggins gave the ring to his grandson Frodo. After some time, the wizard Gandalf the Gray begins to suspect that Bilbo’s magic ring is the One Ring, lost for three thousand years, and goes to Minas Tirith to find out and confirm this doubt – he is taken to a small place that was once full. including many historical books and documents. After searching through ancient documents for months, he came across the story of finding one ring. Gandalf notices that the ring has black magic lines written on it which can only be seen if the ring is lit by fire. He returns to Bag End only to discover that the ring Frodo is holding is actually Sauron’s One Ring. Gandalf ordered Frodo to leave the Shire immediately with the ring. Gandalf pressed Samwise Gamgee’s ear to the window and decided to send him with Frodo. Gandalf travels to Isengard to meet Saruman the White, who informs Gandalf that the Nazgul, or Ringwraiths, have left Minas Morgul to take the ring and kill anyone who enters it. Gandalf tries to escape to teach Frodo, but Saruman, mistaking Sauron’s cause, imprisons Gandalf in his tower Orthank. Gandalf was then forced to watch Saruman, following Sauron’s orders, ordered the Orcs of Isengard to manufacture weapons and created a new generation of Orc warriors called Uruk-hai.

While traveling to the town of Brie, Frodo and Sam suddenly meet fellow hobbits Merry and Pippin. After meeting Ringwright on the way, they made it to Bree only to find that Gandalf had not arrived. But Frodo meets a man named “Strider”, who agrees to lead them to Rivendell. They continued on and spent the night on Weathertop hill, where they were attacked by the Nazgul. Strider fights back, but Frodo is injured by one of the ghouls stabbing him with a Morgulblade, which makes him dangerous if not handled carefully. While being chased by the Nazgûl, Frodo is taken by the elf Arwen to the coast of Rivendell, and is rescued by his father, Elrond (the elves’ leader in the battle of Mount Doom for three thousand years originally). Arwen also uses his magic to cut through the pursuing Ringwraith at the Ford of Brown, causing the water to destroy the Ringwraith.
In Rivendell, Frodo meets Gandalf, who explains why he did not meet them at Brie and that he escaped from the hands of Orthanc and Saruman with the help of an eagle. Later, Elrond summoned a council to decide what to do with the ring. Elrond decided to keep the ring in Rivendell for too long, knowing that the elven kingdom could be attacked from Mordor and Isengard. The ring can only be destroyed by throwing it into the fires of Mount Doom, where it was created. Frodo willingly takes the ring to Mount Doom and leaves with his fellow hobbits and Gandalf, as well as Strider, who is revealed to be Aragorn, the rightful heir to the throne of Gondor. Accompanying them will be the nymph Legolas, the dwarf Gimli, and Boromir, son of the Steward of Gondor. They merged together and became the Fellowship of the Ring.
The Fellowship departs and attempts to cross the Misty Mountains via the Karadhras mountain pass. Saruman creates a massive storm, which causes an intense avalanche and snowfall, which nearly wipes out the Guild. At Gimli’s urging, they decide to seek safety and descend the mountain via the Mori mines. Frodo agrees, but on the way, they are attacked by Watchers in the water, forcing them to walk through a mine. Inside, they encounter goblins and cave trolls in the Chamber of Mazarbul, and encounter the Balrog, an ancient demon of fire and shadow, at the Hazad-Doom Bridge. Gandalf confronts the Balrog on the bridge and pushes him into the gorge below, but the monster drags him down. The group travels to the Underworld and escapes to the elven kingdom of Lathlurien, where they are protected by the ruler Galadriel and her husband Celeborn. That night, Frodo meets Galadriel, who tells him that it is his destiny to take hold of the ring and destroy it forever. Before they leave, Galadriel gives Frodo the Phial of Galadriel, and the other members also receive gifts from them. They took the direct route to Mordor, they crossed the river Anduin to Parth Galen.
