What Is In Petroleum – Have you ever wondered what’s in an oil can? It was never full of monkeys, of course. You might think that 42 gallons of black oil is the obvious answer. And this is technically correct. However, that barrel of oil has more potential than just fossil fuels.
Crude oil is a liquid mixture of hydrocarbons, compounds and a small amount of metal found below the earth’s surface. Oil is made by heating and compressing very old natural materials (prehistoric plants and animals) for long periods of time. Petroleum is considered a fossil fuel because it is a natural product of decaying plants and animals.
What Is In Petroleum
During this long time, prehistoric algae, zooplankton, and other organisms lived at the bottom of ancient water bodies, where everything mixed with soil. The pressure is due to the sedimentation layers that show organic matter and soil at high temperatures. Through diagenesis, the chemical compound becomes a waxy compound called kerogen. Then, with increasing temperature, the material becomes liquid through catagenesis. That liquid is oil.
Use Of Oil
Currently, our tanks are filled with 50-97% hydrocarbons, between 6-10% compounds and less than 1% metals.
Oil can be converted into many different products. But before doing anything, the oil must first be purified.
Since there are many types of hydrocarbons in crude oil, they must be separated to produce the desired result (since not all petroleum products are produced). Fractional distillation takes place when the crude oil is heated and different fractions of the oil are taken at different levels through different melting temperatures.
After refining, crude oil can be converted into a variety of products, such as fuel and other lubricants.

However, while oil production is one of the largest oil products produced today, gas is less than half of a barrel of oil.
Three percent of crude oil goes into making asphalt for paving roads and parking lots.
One percent of this goes into making lubricants: the fats and fluids that help our planet run smoothly.

Top 10 Oil Producing Countries (updated 2022)

As the world produces batteries and electric vehicles, the demand for lithium is expected to reach 1.5 million tons of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) by 2025 and more than 3 million tons by 2030.

For context, the world produced 540,000 tons of LCE in 2021. Based on the above demand projections, the production should increase by 2025 and almost six times by 2030.
Although the supply is on a rapid growth path, it could take anywhere from six to more than 15 years for new lithium projects to come online. As a result, the lithium market is expected to be in short supply for the next few years.
