Daniel And The End Of Human History (dan. 2, 7, 8)

Daniel chapter 12 is known as one of the most important passages of the Old Testament, which refers to the great tribulation, which takes place before the second coming of Christ, when he goes out to found his millennial kingdom on earth. This passage tells of the time when God’s promises to Abraham and David would finally be fulfilled. This is the time when all Israel will recognize Jesus Christ as their Messiah and King.

However, it is important to recognize when reading this passage that it was written specifically to Israel and covers the 7-year period after the rapture of the church, when God once again speaks to his chosen people, Israel. This is the period of time when Israel will fulfill its agreed mission of preaching the “Gospel of the Kingdom” to the world, which was originally entrusted to them by Moses.

Since the fall of Adam, everyone is born with a sinful nature and is enslaved to the wicked. From Daniel we learn that every nation is under the control of satanic rule or power. Israel, chosen and agreed upon as God’s nation, is uniquely … protected by one of God’s holy angels who guard them. In fact, in this verse we read that the angel of Israel is none other than the archangel Michael. Michael is the great angelic prince responsible for protecting God’s chosen people.

It is at that time – the end of the great tribulation, that Satan will unleash all his satanic powers against God’s holy nation Israel as before… and we read in Zechariah, during that period two thirds of that nation will be slaughtered.

The atrocities that took place in AD 70, when Rome sacked the city of Jerusalem and brutally murdered men, women and children – and Hitler’s vicious attempts to expel the Jews through Nazi extermination camps, were committed during this period. Less than atrocity. The darkest period of history, described by Daniel, precedes Christ’s return.

Daniel Sees Lions, Leopards & Bears…oh My!

Even if half the world’s population dies by the sword, famine, pestilence, or demonic entities, all who call on God’s name will be saved … and the names of those who are saved will be written in the book of life. Whether they live or are martyred, all those whose names are written in the book of life will have a place at the coming of Christ’s kingdom.

Those who have been saved by grace because of their faith in these difficult times, and yet have been killed for their faith, will be raised to immortal life. They will worship Jehovah day and night in God’s temple… and He will wipe away all tears from their eyes.

Those who are saved by grace and endure to the end because of their faith in this terrible time of trouble, will be the ones who will enter the millennial kingdom of Christ in their physical bodies. These are the people who will live on earth during this promised time of prosperity and peace. They will enjoy the fruits of their labor and no one will fear them. They will live as subjects in the kingdom of heaven on earth, and Christ will rule and reign in Jerusalem, sitting on the royal throne of David with power and great glory.
