Parents should know that “Superman/Shazam!: The Return of Black Adam” is a short animated superhero adventure with non-stop action and moments of danger, as well as many positive messages. When Black Adam (voice of Arnold Waslow) decides to kill the young orphan Billy Batson (Zach Callison) on Earth, Billy himself becomes a superhero – Captain Marvel (Jerry O’Connell). They team up with Superman (George Newbern) and Black Adam, leading to some big, intense fight scenes. Characters are thrown over walls, buildings are destroyed, hands are placed on throats, and punches are delivered to the face. While there are many dangers and threats, no one is actually killed or seriously injured, although Superman is briefly seen unconscious. The bully punched Billy in the face, leaving a bruise on his face. Superman emits laser beams from his eyes and Adam Black emits light from his hands. Billy is kind and compassionate, always ready to help others, even when he has few of his own. This includes advocating for black men who are experiencing homelessness. When this character is later revealed to be a guardian angel, it actually becomes a disturbing tale of a “magical negro.” The language rarely rhymes once or twice with the words “ass” and “oh my god.” Hello my friends. With three short animated films behind us, we’re officially halfway there. So welcome back to a series of mini-reviews that…

This time we’re going longer than the usual 12 minutes for the first three entries. Not only that, but we got two special heroes for the price of one. In the plot, they face a threat from abroad…

Black Adam: Year Of The Villain One Shot From Dc Comics

Originally released on November 9, 2010, the feature included slightly expanded versions of the three previous DC Showcase shorts. This post is the longest in the entire series at 25 minutes. So, let’s dive into it and see two of our favorite heroes in action.

We open on the outskirts of Faust City, where a young couple (Danica McKellar, Josh Keaton and Winnie Cooper herself) manage to spot a shooting star in the distance. He suddenly changes direction and collides with them.

When the smoke clears, it turns out that it is not a shooting star. None other than Adam Fekete (voice of Arnold Waslow) completes the scene looking out over the city skyline.

After our title page, we jump to the next day where we are introduced to Billy Bateson (voiced by Zach Callison), a young man who is unfortunately also orphaned. He lives in an apartment building and hardly eats anything.

After getting dressed and going out, he finds a homeless man being chased by Punk (also played by Josh Keaton) and the young criminal even stealing his money. Billy stands up for the older man, but is wounded by the young thug.

After the cubs leave, a homeless boy named Tony (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) thanks the boy for “doing the right thing”. He then asks for change, to which Billy gives him the only thing of value: a subway token. Tony agrees to this and promises to pay her back eventually.

We then cut to a restaurant where Billy Bateson meets Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent aka Kal-El aka Superman (voiced by George Newbern). It turns out that Clark is writing an article about the city of Fawcett’s problem with homeless children. During their conversation, we learn that Billy had loving parents before he ended up in foster care. He tells Kent that even though he was a good kid, life doesn’t seem to have noticed him. Clark says he knows and that “it’s hard to get better.”

Meanwhile, Adam Fekete arrives, digging a hole in the dining room. He tells Billy that he’s going to kill him because apparently the young guy was chosen to be in charge. Clark tries to intervene, but is easily tossed across the street and through a building. Fortunately, this gave Billy a chance to escape.

He runs across the street and even jumps on the back of a fire truck to escape his pursuers. However, as hard as Billy tries, Adam Black is easily caught as he takes a fire extinguisher and throws it at him to eventually knock the guy out.

Fortunately, Superman arrives and saves the Cat from harm. He and Adam Fekete later fought each other.

Shortly after, Adam Black fires a bolt of lightning to send Superman flying. After the encounter, Supes realizes that the bolts are made of magic, something else that amazes him.
