Sometimes being a Walking Dead fan can be a little difficult. The Mothership series started off strong, to the point where fans always debated whether to stay for more seasons or find another show to occupy their time. With AMC’s success with spin-off series like Fear The Walking Dead and the recently released limited series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, these questions have become more difficult. Like the original series, The Walking Dead has some issues with continuity. While the first few seasons had some great moments, they often failed to deliver engaging characters that you wanted to emulate and forge your own identities with. For those that stick with it, season 4 felt like the time when the series finally justified its existence, introducing some of the characters the story was drawn from, as well as some new characters that quickly became popular with fans. The fifth season was another small step forward, but it caught up with the season as it entered its sixth season.

Amc Has Renewed

What exactly changed in season 4 that changed the show? The series more or less conforms to Western aesthetics, leaving the show with a bit of a self-consciousness that stifles creativity. The show continues to have realistic emotional situations, but the approach allows the characters to have different emotions. The fifth season was overkill on its own, but the finale’s final moments made a breakthrough that boldly anchored the series. Before we go any further, we should explain what it is and how it solves it, but the answer is in the cover art for the season, so it’s hard to avoid. Spoiler-sensitive viewers should read at their own risk. Awkward Virginia (Colby Menepee), leader of a group known as the Pioneers who force people to join their cause, shoots Morgan (Lenny James), a character who appeared on The Walking Dead after her pilot. Let him die in the original series. While killing off such an important character made it seem like the show hit a major turning point for her, the season 6 premiere makes it clear that he’s not ready to let her go.

Season 6 creatively finds the show in an interesting place. Virginia splits the characters into groups and catches up with everyone working to reunite them over several episodes. All we know about Morgan is that he miraculously survived his extraordinary ordeal with last-minute help from a mysterious figure, but the answer to that question is one of many. In the premiere episode, which seems to have been forgotten for the rest of the season, there’s some disappointment about his survival due to a plotline involving how a corpse reacts to Morgan. Alicia (Alicia Debnam-Carey) and Strand (Coleman Domingo) are trying to figure out how to fit into Virginia society. Al (Maggie Grace) gets a standout episode, but he mostly feels like a forgotten character from the season. Dwight (Austin Amelio), on the other hand, exhibits the significant character growth that characterizes this journey. John (Garrett Delavante) wrestles with morality a lot this season, and his distance from his wife, June (Gina Elfman), only makes things worse.

Over the course of this season, the show has signed on to some franchise-related conflicts on some fronts and broke new ground on others. As mentioned, with this much variety of characters, it’s possible that some of them don’t get the attention they deserve. But those who pay a little extra attention to them are often rewarded in truly satisfying ways. This season has a heartbreaking loss that reminds us that we really do care about what happens to a lot of people. Ginny proves to be a decent villain in his own right, but beneath the surface is a bubbly background villain played by John Glover (Smallville) that brings the story to an interesting and funny ending. Depending on the run, the series could be in a very different place when it returns for a seventh season. Given the changing nature of weather patterns, the future could be disappointing yet again.
