Gareth Bale decided to play in Major League Soccer (MLS), the highest caste of the United States League.

The Welsh winger left Europe and joined the MLS club, Los Angeles FC. This was known in an upload on Gareth Bale’s personal Twitter account.

“See you soon, Los Angeles,” Bale wrote on his Twitter account @GarethBale11.

Bale’s tweet was retweeted directly by the official Los Angeles FC Twitter account @LAFC.

Gareth Bale will only join Los Angeles FC on 7 July 2022 after the MLS transfer window opens.

Bale is not the only top player to play in the United States League this season.

There are at least nine other top players who are also playing in the 2022 MLS season. Who are they?

Here summarizes the nine top players besides Bale, who is now playing in the MLS 2022 season:

1. Giorgio Chiellini

Just like Bale, Giorgio Chiellini is also a new signing for Los Angeles FC in the 2022 summer transfer market.

Chiellini was first announced as a new signing for LA FC on June 13, 2022.

2. Lorenzo Insigne

Chiellini’s compatriot in the Italian national team, Insigne will also enliven Major League Soccer 2022.

After his contract with Napoli expired at the end of June 2022, Insigne decided to continue his career to MLS to join Toronto FC.

Just like Bale and Chiellini, Insigne came to Toronto FC on a free transfer.

3. Xherdan Shaqiri

Swiss national team winger Xherdan Shaqiri is one of the top players to have a career in MLS this season.

Xherdan Shaqiri plays for the Chicago Fire. The former Liverpool player signed from Olympique Lyon in February 2022 and has a contract until December 31, 2024.

This season, Shaqiri has recorded three goals and two assists from 11 matches with the Chicago Fire.

4. Douglas Costa

Douglas Costa joined the Los Angeles Galaxy (LA Galaxy) since February 2022.

Douglas Costa plays for Gremio after being loaned from Juventus. However, after Gremio was confirmed for relegation to Brazil’s Serie B League last month, the club experienced financial problems so they ended the loan spell.

After that, the Brazilian winger was first loaned by LA Galaxy from Gremio before being tied permanently on 7 July 2022.

So far, Douglas Costa has scored two goals in 12 games for the LA Galaxy in MLS 2022.

5. Carlos Vela

Carlos Vela is a former Arsenal player who currently plays for Los Angeles FC. The Mexican winger has been playing for LA FC since January 2018.

At the time this article was published, Carlos Vela had 73 goals and 33 assists from 116 games for Los Angeles FC.

Meanwhile, this season Vela will play with his new colleagues, namely Bale and Chiellini who have become LA FC players.

6. Javier Hernandez

The name Javier Hernandez must be familiar. Yes, the Mexican national team player, who has played for Manchester United and Real Madrid, has had a career in MLS since 2020.

Chicharito, Javier Hernandez’s nickname, left Europe in January 2020 to join LA Galaxy.

At LA Galaxy, Chicharito captains the team and has so far recorded 26 goals and three assists, as of this article.

7. Alexandre Pato

Former AC Milan and Chelsea striker Alexandre Pato has played for Orlando City since February 2021.

8. Blaise Matuidi

The former Juventus midfielder has joined David Beckham’s club, Inter Miami since last August 2020.

Matuidi was recruited by Inter Miami on a free transfer after he agreed to end his partnership with Juventus before the stipulated time.

Matuidi currently has 48 appearances for Inter Miami.

9. Gonzalo Higuain

After Inter Miami succeeded in signing Matuidi in August 2020, Beckham’s club brought in his Juventus teammate Gonzalo Higuain, in September 2020.

Just like Matuidi, Inter Miami brought Higuan on a free transfer after the Argentine striker agreed to terminate his contract with Juventus.

Higuain has scored 15 goals and contributed nine assists from 51 appearances so far.
